City hall Stuttgart
Germany
The city hall in Stuttgart got a new roof covering with photovoltaics in 2020. However, since the roof structure was not designed for a heavy rooftop system, the state capital of Stuttgart decided to integrate the solar modules into the roof cladding.
The decisive factor was not only a homogeneous appearance, but also the advantage that the roof structure has to bear less weight than a rooftop system. In this case, the roof does not have to be covered with tiles beforehand and a solar system installed afterwards. Instead, the solar modules replace part of the roof cladding.
In this way, it was possible to equip the roof with 282 modules of Solrif modules from aleo. In total, this enabled the roof to be activated with a solar output of 84.6 kilowatts.
